We will kick things off with the Elementary Concert on December 3 at 6:30 PM in the Brewer Performing Arts Center. Performances will include the Grade 5 Beginner Band and the Grades 3 & 4 Elementary Chorus. The Elementary Chorus will take us down Memory Lane with a couple of “golden oldies”: Side By Side and Bye, Bye, Blackbird and the Grade 5 Band will play folk songs from around the world as well as traditional Christmas carols.
The Middle School Instrumental Groups will perform on December 10 at 6:30 PM. Come hear the Grade 8 Band open the concert with A Jingle Bells Fantasy, then the Grades 6-8 Concert Band will perform a varied concert program including Wizards in Winter by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, a peaceful setting of Noel, Noel, Secret Agent Sugar Plum, and more! The Grades 7 & 8 Holiday Small Ensembles allow students to be featured in a different setting and learn to be independent with one on a part in the group. They have prepared a varied set of holiday music from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to the Hallelujah Chorus.
The Brewer High School Concert Choir and Concert Band will perform on December 16 at 7 PM. Admission is $5 Adults and $3 Students/Senior Citizens. The High School Concert Choir will exhibit a variety of selections, from a Spiritual to a lovely setting of poetry by Robert Louis Stevenson to a modern version of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. The BHS Concert Band will perform Fantasia For Christmas based on the Ukrainian Bell Carol, the first movement of Clare Grundman’s Hebrides Suite, Fantasy on American Sailing Songs, and Nemesis by Gary Weitz.
Our talented students have been working very hard to prepare an exciting and varied program to help you get into the spirit of the holiday season! They love to see staff members in the audience and we appreciate your support. Hope to see YOU there!
This Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Brewer Performing Arts Center.
The original play by BYT director Rich Kimball is a variation on the classic tale of the frog prince that includes appearances by the long-dead Brothers Grimm, several well-known fairy tale characters, and the makings of an angry mob. This fast-paced comedy features a cast of over thirty-five Brewer High School students and is directed by BYT graduates Jacob Joy and Emma Nichols, with lighting design by Brewer student Jamie Seymour.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The play discusses mature situations and may not be appropriate for younger children.
It is my pleasure to invite all of you to our annual JMG Opening Ceremony. This year the ceremony will take place in the BCS cafeteria next Wednesday November 18th at 6pm. This is a great opportunity to come and support your past and present students as well as the JMG program here at Brewer Community School. During the ceremony we are hoping to get a head start on our food drive this year, so if you can attend please consider bringing some non-perishable food items to benefit the Brewer Area Food Pantry.
